Latin American higher education technology summits

Overview

In late 2026, academic institutions in Mexico and the Dominican Republic hosted major summits focused on the digital transformation of higher education.

In September, the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur (UABCS) launched virtual workshops as part of the ANUIES-TIC 2026 program. This initiative aimed to facilitate technological exchange among over 150 institutions, with early sessions focusing on the integration of artificial intelligence agents into university workflows.

Following this, the Universidad Central del Este (UCE) inaugurated the XIV International Scientific Congress Technology, University and Society (TUS 2026) in Punta Cana. This congress addressed the theme “Technology with purpose: Transforming realities from the Caribbean,” bringing together researchers and educators to discuss digital inclusion, professional training, and the ethical governance risks of AI within Latin America.
