Latin American library and literacy recognition
Overview
Regional library networks and literacy initiatives have received significant recognition in Latin America. The Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP) hosted the 61st Ordinary Session of the Central-South Region Library Network (REBICS) and the 18th Library Meeting of the ANUIES Central-South Region to discuss the role of libraries in research and academic development.
In Colombia, Bogotá’s District Public Library Network, BibloRed, was awarded the 2026 UNESCO Rey Sejong International Literacy Prize for its social inclusion and diversity policies.
