Law enforcement activities in Albania and Kosovo

Law enforcement activities in Albania and Kosovo have involved various criminal investigations, arrests, and police commendations.

In Albania, legal actions include the transfer of former police official Uljan Shpataraku to Peqin prison after his arrest for allegedly aiding a criminal authority. Shpataraku was apprehended while transporting businessman Ergys Agasi, who is wanted by SPAK for corruption and money laundering.

Albanian State Police Director General Skënder Hita has recently recognized several officers for their roles in high-profile investigations and life-saving operations. During a meeting in Fier, Hita promoted Mariglen Koroveshaj, the former head of the Roskovec Police Station, to the rank of Chief Commissioner. Koroveshaj was honored for his successful negotiation during a hostage situation involving 24-year-old Rozalinda Plaku, who was held by an ex-partner following the murder of her parents.

Hita also commended the professionalism of the Shqiponja Special Force and other officers involved in capturing suspects responsible for the murder of a 20-year-old Portuguese national in Ksamil and a fatal attack in Lushnjë. Participating officers are set to receive a monthly salary bonus as a reward for these efforts.

In Kosovo, authorities in Mitrovica detained four individuals suspected of using technology to assist candidates during driver's license exams. Separately, a police intervention in Prizren regarding a noise complaint resulted in three arrests and minor injuries to two officers during a confrontation.
