Lebanese Army activities and roadworks in Beirut
Overview
In October 2026, the Lebanese Army’s Higher Center for Military Sports announced the ‘Lebanese Army 10km Race’ to be held in Beirut. The event, held under the patronage of Army Commander General Rudolf Heikal, follows a seaside route from the Central Military Club through various landmarks including the Beirut Port and Zaitunay Bay.
To accommodate the race, the Internal Security Forces scheduled the removal of vehicles from the seaside route starting the night before the event. Separately, road marking works were scheduled for the Tariq al-Sham road near the Military Hospital, intended to take place nightly over a three-week period.
