Legal and public disputes involving singer Heino
Overview
German singer Heino has been involved in two distinct legal and public disputes in late 2026.
In the first instance, Heino reached a legal settlement with the AfD Uckermark following a dispute over unauthorized election advertising. The conflict began after politician Felix Teichner claimed on social media that Heino would vote for him during a district administrator election. Heino filed a lawsuit for non-material damages, asserting he never made such a statement. The settlement, mediated by the Landesgericht Innsbruck, requires the AfD Uckermark to pay a four-digit sum and includes an apology from Teichner.
In a separate matter, Heino contested the use of gender-neutral language in the working title of a film series. He expressed opposition to the title ‘Die Rettungsschwimmer:innen’, describing the linguistic approach as ‘nonsense’ and stating that such language ‘disfigures’ the German language. Following legal pressure from his management, which threatened to remove his scenes from the production, director and producer Stefanie Mayer agreed to revert the title to ‘Die Rettungsschwimmer am Wörthersee’ or ‘Die Rettungsschwimmer vom Wörthersee’ to ensure the project’s success. While Mayer stated she personally continues to support gender-sensitive language, Heino has confirmed his satisfaction with the resolution and will remain part of the production.
The dispute escalated after weather presenter Jörg Kachelmann made comments regarding the matter on X. In response, Heino’s manager, Helmut Werner, criticized Kachelmann in an Instagram video, claiming Kachelmann’s career is ‘hardly existent anymore.’ Heino stated he must stand by his convictions.
