Legal proceedings against Grzegorz Braun

Grzegorz Braun, a Member of the European Parliament and leader of Konfederacja Korona Polska, has faced legal and political repercussions following controversial remarks regarding the Holocaust.

Initially, Zbigniew Bogucki, Chief of the President's Chancellery, condemned Braun’s statements questioning the historical reality of gas chambers at Auschwitz, labeling them “unacceptable, scandalous,” and “anti-Polish.” These comments prompted investigations by the Institute of National Remembrance and a request from the Prosecutor General to strip Braun of his immunity.

Subsequently, a prosecutor from the Regional Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation in Kraków formally charged Braun with denying Nazi crimes. The indictment focuses on incidents in July 2025 where Braun allegedly claimed in media interviews that “Auschwitz with gas chambers is unfortunately fake.” While Braun has pleaded not guilty, he did not deny making the statements. The Institute of National Remembrance noted that his claims contradict established historical evidence, including scientific studies and witness testimonies.
