Legal proceedings and criminal investigations in Argentina

Overview

Legal proceedings in Argentina have involved various homicide, sexual abuse, and fraud trials. In Guaymallén, Leandro Emanuel Contreras Sottile, a former supporter of Independiente Rivadavia, faced a jury trial for the 2013 shooting death of Lucas Fabián Bruno. Other trials included cases of sexual abuse in Río Grande and La Plata, as well as grooming charges in San Juan.

Subsequent legal developments included the decision to allow Norma Miriam Pérez, convicted of the 2014 murder of Otto Federico Ferber, to serve a life sentence under house arrest due to health concerns. In Tucumán, authorities launched investigations into the disappearance of three adolescents who were last seen using a transportation app. Meanwhile, the Buenos Aires Court of Cassation overturned a conviction for a woman who killed her partner, ruling her actions constituted legitimate self-defense within a context of gender-based violence.
