León Aeropuerto Boulevard bridge construction delays

Infrastructure projects in León, Guanajuato, face delays regarding the construction of a bridge on Bulevar Aeropuerto due to pending land expropriation processes. To mitigate traffic congestion in the city’s eastern zone, authorities have utilized alternative routes such as Bulevar La Luz and Vicente Valtierra, while evaluating the extension of Avenida Olímpica as an additional option.

Funding for the project has become a central issue. While the bridge requires an estimated investment of approximately 430 to 435 million pesos, Deputy Jorge Espadas announced that funds originally intended for the bridge would be reallocated to strengthen health services at the Regional General Hospital.

Despite this shift, the state government has expressed a willingness to contribute to the project alongside the municipality. Mayor Alejandra Gutiérrez Campos noted the bridge’s significance, as it connects to Highway 45 and serves over 200,000 vehicles daily. Although legal proceedings involving private parties have hindered progress, municipal leaders remain focused on securing the necessary financing to complete the infrastructure.
