León State Fair funding and concert reductions
Overview
The León State Fair (Feria Estatal de León) in Guanajuato, Mexico, is facing a reduction in its musical lineup for the 2027 edition. This change is attributed to a shift in state funding models implemented by the State Secretariat of Tourism and Identity (Secturi).
Previously, the state provided significant cash injections, such as 150 million pesos, which supported up to 14 national and international artists. Under the new model, the government will provide services ‘in kind’ rather than transferring large sums of money to the Fair's Board. Consequently, the Board expects to host only the four or five shows directly paid for by the State Government of Guanajuato.
To mitigate these cuts, the Board is requesting 28 million pesos from the Municipality of León to fund a headline show and a commemorative parade.
