Levica political opposition in North Macedonia
Overview
The Levica political party in North Macedonia has raised several allegations against the government regarding fiscal management and legislative changes.
Initially, the party accused Education Minister Vesna Janevska of misleading the public concerning student meal subsidies. Levica claimed that while the Minister suggested subsidies had increased, official documentation shows amounts for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic years remained at 140 denars. The party alleged this discrepancy resulted in students being deprived of approximately 6.5 million euros.
Subsequently, Levica MP Jovana Mojsovska criticized the DPMNE party for proposing legislative changes to the appointment criteria for the Health Insurance Fund director. Mojsovska argued that the proposal seeks to replace specific educational and professional requirements with a general formula to facilitate the appointment of the current acting director, Perinski, who may not meet existing standards for managing the institution’s 900 million euro budget.
