LG Electronics and Marriott smart hotel partnership

LG Electronics and Marriott International have entered a strategic partnership to develop a next-generation smart hotel technology platform. Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding, the collaboration aims to integrate LG’s connectivity and display technology, specifically its webOS and cloud-based systems, with Marriott’s operational infrastructure.

The platform is designed to transform hotel televisions into interactive hubs. Guests will be able to access multimedia content, hotel information, and room controls—such as lighting and temperature—through a single interface. The system is expected to support over 40 OTT applications and more than 250 channels, including linear TV and Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV (FAST).

For hotel operators, the cloud-based integration seeks to increase efficiency by enabling centralized management of digital services and reducing the need for local hardware, such as individual servers and set-top boxes in each room. The rollout is planned to begin at 40 hotels in the United States and Canada before expanding across Marriott’s global brands.
