LGBTQ+ pride events and hate crime trends in Germany

Christopher Street Day (CSD) pride parades are proceeding across various German cities despite an increase in reported hostility toward the LGBTQ+ community.

In Bremen, authorities confirmed that the parade would follow its full planned route despite concerns regarding police resource shortages. This follows a significant rise in politically motivated crimes against individuals based on sexual orientation or gender identity, which increased from 26 cases in 2024 to 60 in 2025. Interior Senator Eva Högl noted that “queerphobia is becoming more visible and aggressive through organized actions.”

In Brandenburg, multiple CSD events are scheduled in Hennigsdorf, Jüterbog, and Bad Belzig. In Hennigsdorf, organizers expect between 500 and 1,000 participants under the motto ‘Liebe ist alles’. However, police are preparing for potential disruptions from a planned right-wing extremist protest in the area. In contrast, authorities report no specific indications of potential disturbances for the events in Jüterbog and Bad Belzig. Security is being provided for all three demonstrations to promote LGBTQ+ visibility and rights.

Additionally, investigators in Cottbus are looking into the arson of a rainbow flag, part of a series of attacks on LGBTQ+ symbols and hateful graffiti in the region.
