Ligue 1 2026–27 schedule controversy

Overview

The Ligue Nationale de Football Professionnel (LNFP) confirmed the finalization of the 2026–27 Ligue 1 schedule following a controversy regarding the July 29 draw. Despite videos suggesting a procedural error where a ball was placed in the wrong container, the LNFP maintained that the draw was conducted transparently in the presence of club representatives and a bailiff.

Spokesperson Hafedh Ben Ahmed stated that a new draw was ‘absolutely not on the agenda’ and that there was ‘no reason to redo it.’ The league concluded that the mistake did not affect the final calendar, and the season is scheduled to begin on August 22–23, 2026.
