Lil Nas X musical release and personal recovery
Overview
Lil Nas X has released a new single titled ‘World’s Greatest’, marking his first musical release in approximately eighteen months. The track, released via Columbia Records, interpolates his 2021 hit ‘INDUSTRY BABY’ and was produced by C. WRAY and Steve Rusch.
The song and its accompanying six-minute music video, directed by Phillip Youmans and filmed in Atlanta, serve as a personal tribute to the artist’s late mother, Tamikia Hill, who passed away in August. The release follows a difficult period for the artist involving a bipolar disorder diagnosis, a 2025 arrest in Los Angeles, and subsequent participation in a two-year treatment program.
Lil Nas X has indicated that he is currently ‘doing better’ and ‘creating freely’ following his recovery process. The music video features an emotional voicemail from Hill, who encouraged him to ‘walk by faith, not by sight.’
