Literacy and education initiatives in France

Concurrently, the French Ministry of National Education is targeting vocabulary mastery to combat academic inequality. Education Minister Édouard Geffray has set a goal for students to acquire at least 2,500 words by the end of kindergarten. This policy response follows concerns that nearly 50% of students fail to meet minimum reading objectives by the end of CM2.
