Lithuanian road infrastructure modernization
Overview
Via Lietuva has initiated several infrastructure projects in Lithuania aimed at modernizing road networks and enhancing safety.
In late September 2026, a public procurement tender was launched for the Via Baltica A5 highway section between Marijampolė and the Polish border. This project focuses on installing smart speed control and traffic monitoring systems, including 23 posts with variable information signs to provide real-time updates on weather and road conditions.
Following this, a 17 million euro renovation project was announced for a 13-kilometer stretch of the A12 highway in the Šiauliai and Kelmė districts. This work includes renewing the road surface, repairing viaducts and a 50-year-old bridge, and updating safety features and public transport infrastructure, such as bus stops. The A12 project is slated for completion by November 2027.
