Livestock deaths in Tokat province

Overview

In the Niksar district of Tokat, a livestock producer discovered 10 water buffalo and one donkey killed and dismembered near a stream at the Akpınar Plateau. The farmer, Şanveren Onayrılı, reported that several of the animals were pregnant and noted that three cattle remain missing.

While Onayrılı reported seeing a bear and two wolves in the vicinity, the specific predator has not been confirmed. Local authorities, including the Gendarmerie and the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, have launched an investigation and installed camera traps to identify the wildlife responsible for the attack.
