Livestock theft and related crime investigations in Brazil

Overview

Police operations in Brazil have targeted various livestock crimes involving cattle theft and related illegal activities.

In Sobradinho, authorities arrested seven individuals following an investigation into cattle theft and drug trafficking. During the operation, police intercepted a vehicle containing raw meat, drugs, and money. Some suspects were found at a residence where they were reportedly processing stolen meat. Several of those arrested had prior criminal records for robbery, homicide, and drug trafficking.

In Nobres, Mato Grosso, the Civil Police launched ‘Operação Rastreio Rural’ to investigate the theft of 39 cattle from a farm. Investigators believe suspects used fuel and improvised wicks to set fire to pastures in an attempt to hinder evidence collection. Police executed search and seizure warrants to identify those involved and recover the stolen herd.
