Local municipal and cultural anniversary celebrations

Various municipalities and local communities are holding celebrations to mark significant cultural and historical anniversaries.

In Ciudad Alianza, the Casa de la Cultura marked its 40th anniversary with art exhibitions, theatrical performances such as ‘La Pulga y el Piojo’, and historical discussions led by chronicler Rubén González Rengifo. Meanwhile, San Blas Atempa held the Feria del Maíz to commemorate the 158th anniversary of its declaration as a free and sovereign municipality, focusing on Zapotec identity and traditional gastronomy through the presentation of regional foods like tamales and atoles.

In Paquisha, Ecuador, the 24th anniversary of cantonization was marked by a series of civic, sporting, and artistic events. These included a community work day (minga), a religious service, a parade with floats, a 33K tourist cycle route, and the 10th Agricultural, Commercial, Gastronomic, Artisanal, and Mining Fair. During a solemn session, Mayor Paul Rodríguez presented a management report and recognized local figures for their regional contributions. The festivities concluded with an ecuavóley tournament and musical performances.

In Poás, Costa Rica, the 125th anniversary of the canton featured antique car exhibitions, masquerades, musical performances, a 6-kilometer hiking excursion at Finca La Hilda, and the Feria Rosa, which focused on breast cancer awareness.

Additionally, the municipal police force in Cabimas, Venezuela, celebrated its 30th anniversary with a Thanksgiving Mass, a floral offering, and a special session at the Javier Fernández Municipal Theater. During this event, the Municipal Council presented a reform of the Policabimas ordinance.
