Lost gold bar return in Shenzhen

Overview

On August 25, a man riding a two-wheeled balancing scooter hit a speed bump in the Shuibei jewelry district of Shenzhen, causing a gold bar to fall out of a torn bag unnoticed.

A local jewelry wholesaler, identified as Ms. Cai or Ms. Tai, discovered the gold bar, which weighed approximately 758.9 grams and was valued at roughly 900,000 yuan (about $125,000). The wholesaler handed the item to security personnel at the Wanshan Shopping Center and provided contact information to facilitate its return.

After approximately one hour, the owner arrived at the scene with police. Following a verification of the incident via CCTV footage, the gold bar was returned intact. Security captain Zhang Qiwei noted that the district has handled nearly 20 similar cases of lost high-value jewelry that were all eventually returned.
