Lusofonia Festival in Macau

Overview

The 29th Lusofonia Festival in Macau, organized by the Macau Cultural Institute, is scheduled for October 23 to 25. This year’s edition highlights Brazilian culture as part of the official China-Brazil Cultural Year, featuring headliner Fafá de Belém alongside artists from Equatorial Guinea, Timor-Leste, and over 40 local Lusophone groups.

Following the withdrawal of sponsorship from Galaxy Entertainment Group, the festival underwent significant restructuring. Budgetary constraints resulted in the event being shortened to three days, a change that reportedly caused dissatisfaction among local Lusophone associations, including the Casa de Portugal in Macau and the Macau Association.
