Madhya Pradesh road and transport infrastructure development
Overview
Madhya Pradesh is undergoing significant infrastructure development focused on road and transport connectivity. Initially, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced several regional road projects, including the 32-kilometer Rajoda-Kelod-Double Chowki road and the 12-kilometer Sukhliya-Tigariya route, aimed at improving access for rural residents.
Following these announcements, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari met with the Chief Minister to review the progress of National Highway projects, such as the Ujjain-Jhalawar four-lane project and the Jabalpur-Lakhnadon-Raipur greenfield expressway. During this review, Gadkari ordered the suspension of toll collection at the Shahpura toll plaza due to bridge damage and participated in the launch of the ‘Mukhyamantri Sugam Parivahan Seva’ scheme, which aims to provide modern bus transport to 75 per cent of the state’s gram panchayats.
