Madrid metro network expansion projects

Overview

The Community of Madrid has initiated several major public transport expansion projects. Initially, authorities announced a 25 million euro plan to extend the Metro Ligero Oeste Line 3, adding two stations to connect Puerta de Boadilla to the Valenoso neighborhood in Boadilla del Monte to address local population growth.

Following this, a much larger infrastructure project was detailed regarding the expansion of Metro Line 11. This 880.6 million euro project aims to extend the line 7.2 kilometers between Mar de Cristal and Valdebebas Norte, including the construction of four new stations. The expansion is divided into two lots with a target completion date of 2030. Six bidding consortia are currently competing for the contracts associated with these works.
