Maharashtra transport services for Ganesh Chaturthi

To accommodate travel during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, transport authorities in Maharashtra are implementing significant service expansions.

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) announced the addition of 5,220 extra state-run buses for the Konkan region between September 7 and September 25. Additionally, Western Railway scheduled 42 special train trips to connect Mumbai, Gujarat, and coastal Karnataka with Konkan destinations.

Further updates indicate that Western Railway will implement a revised suburban timetable for Mumbai local services effective September 1, which includes six new slow local services and a slight increase in weekday air-conditioned services. Meanwhile, Central Railway is preparing to operate 262 special train services starting September 9, connecting Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur to the Konkan region and Goa. To manage the expected passenger volume, authorities are deploying extra security, ticket counters, and facilities at major stations.
