Malaysia diplomatic response to Israel-Palestine conflict

Overview

Malaysia has intensified its diplomatic opposition to Israeli actions in Palestinian territories. During an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan called for integrated collective measures, including embargos, boycotts, and sanctions on weapons deliveries, to pressure Israel.

Malaysia also emphasized the need for a ceasefire and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Following these calls for international pressure, the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wisma Putra, issued a condemnation of Israeli calls for the forced relocation of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. The ministry stated that such actions, along with property destruction and killings, constitute serious violations of international law and serve to facilitate the expansion of illegal settlements. Malaysia continues to urge the United Nations Security Council to ensure accountability and supports an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders.

Following a United Nations Human Rights Office report detailing the forced displacement of more than 33,000 Palestinians from the Jenin, Nur Shams, and Tulkarm refugee camps in the West Bank, Malaysia has renewed its condemnation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) characterized these systematic displacements and settlement expansions as violations of international law. Malaysia continues to urge the UN Security Council to take decisive action to protect Palestinian lives and ensure accountability for potential war crimes.
