Manaus Industrial Pole economic development

Overview

The Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM) has demonstrated significant economic activity and long-term stability in the Amazonas region. Through July 2026, the industrial hub reported revenues of R$ 142.98 billion, driven largely by computer goods, two-wheel vehicles, and electronics. The sector maintained a strong labor market, with employment reaching 132,596 workers in July.

Industrial growth is supported by private sector expansions, such as Novamed’s R$ 300 million investment to increase production capacity and establish a new Research, Development, and Innovation Center. On a structural level, the legal framework for the Zona Franca de Manaus has been secured until 2073 via Constitutional Amendment 83, providing long-term security for investments.

However, environmental factors have introduced logistical challenges. In response to the 2026 drought and receding river levels, the Center of Industries of the State of Amazonas (CIEAM) organized a seminar titled ‘Solutions for the 2026 Drought: Logistic and Customs Operations’. Scheduled for October 1, the event aims to address operational bottlenecks by bringing together port operators, airport management, and the Brazilian Federal Revenue. CIEAM executive president Lúcio Flávio Morais de Oliveira emphasized that technical integration between transport modes and customs authorities is essential to ensure the PIM remains supplied and competitive despite recurring drought challenges.
