Manaus municipal infrastructure and service modernization

Overview

The city of Manaus is undertaking several initiatives to modernize urban infrastructure and public services. The municipal government has expanded a project to reorganize aerial wiring in the historic center, aiming to cover 70 kilometers over 12 months. This effort involves removing obsolete cables, reorganizing active wires, and surveying utility poles to address visual pollution and public safety concerns.

Simultaneously, the city has introduced a digital platform to modernize public cemetery management, beginning with the Nossa Senhora Aparecida cemetery. This system replaces paper archives with a digital database for over 248,000 records, utilizing geolocation to assist in locating gravesites and reducing document processing times. These administrative updates are being paired with intensified cleaning and maintenance efforts across ten cemeteries.
