Margherita Hack Institute transitions and community outreach

The Margherita Hack Comprehensive Institute is experiencing a period of institutional transition and community engagement. In Molteno, an official ceremony is planned for October 3, 2026, to dedicate a local primary school to the Italian astrophysicist Margherita Hack. Concurrently, Luigi Bellassai has taken over as the new school director in Nova Milanese, promoting a community-focused educational philosophy based on the principle of ‘I care’.

Furthering the institute’s community ties, Bishop Lorenzo Leuzzi conducted a pastoral visit to the schools in Castellalto and Cellino in mid-September 2026. During his visit to approximately 200 students and staff, Leuzzi advocated for an ‘educational alliance’, urging schools, families, and local communities to collaborate closely to support student development and foster reliable relationships amidst a rapidly changing digital world.

This emphasis on collaborative education is echoed by broader ecclesiastical directives. Bishop Nicolò Anselmi of Rimini has highlighted the necessity of an ‘educational alliance’ between schools, families, and teachers, aligning with the encyclical ‘Magnifica Humanitas’. This guidance stresses that education must move beyond the mere transmission of digital data to prioritize human connection and moral growth.
