Montenegro drug raids target Budva, Ulcinj, Cetinje

Law‑enforcement actions against drug trafficking in the Mediterranean have continued to intensify. After Tunisian police seized seven sealed packets of marijuana in Yasmine Hammamet in late July, Montenegrin authorities moved swiftly in early August. In Cetinje, officers arrested 33‑year‑old S. M. on suspicion of illegal production, possession and distribution of marijuana, and detained two Turkish women linked to a prior purchase; roughly 230 g of cannabis were recovered. A coordinated raid in Budva targeted five beach bars, seizing about 200 g of marijuana, seven packages of cocaine, a precision weighing scale and €1,320 in cash, and resulted in the detention of two Serbian nationals. On 1 August, further raids in Budva and in Ulcinj expanded the operation. In Ulcinj, a Bosnian woman, a Serbian man and a Serbian teenager were detained after marijuana was found; the Bosnian woman also faced an MDMA charge. The combined actions are presented as part of a broader effort to maintain public safety during the tourist season and to combat the illegal drug trade across the region.
