Maritime accidents in Greece

Overview

A series of maritime incidents occurred in Greece involving passenger and transport vessels.

In Skia Thos, the passenger ship ‘Nisos Aegina’ collided with a moored sea taxi, the ‘Mitera Panagia’, during docking maneuvers. The ship was carrying 68 passengers, 17 crew members, and 6 children. No injuries or pollution were reported, though both vessels were placed under a departure ban by port authorities.

Separately, the Greek-flagged carrier ‘Eirini K’ sank approximately one nautical mile east of Sifnos while being towed to the Perama shipyards. The vessel sank rapidly following water ingress in the engine room. The two individuals on board were rescued by a tugboat and reported to be in good health. The Hellenic Coast Guard monitored the site for pollution, noting the ship was not carrying fuel or lubricants at the time.
