Maritime accidents in Halkidiki

Overview

A series of maritime incidents involving Serbian nationals has occurred in the Halkidiki region of Greece.

On August 22, a 56-year-old Serbian man died after drowning in the Trini Ammouda sea area of Agios Nikolaos. Despite first aid from a lifeguard, the man was pronounced dead after being transported to the Agios Nikolaos Health Center. The Third Coast Guard Department of Nea Marmara initiated a preliminary investigation into the death.

On August 27, a 36-year-old Serbian tourist sustained head injuries and lost consciousness following a jet ski accident in the Glárokavou area of Kassandra. The victim was treated at several medical facilities, including Papanikolaou General Hospital in Thessaloniki. Following the accident, the 53-year-old manager of the water sports rental business was arrested by the New Nea Mousdana Coast Guard Unit. The manager faces charges of reporting and bodily harm through negligence for renting a high-speed craft to an individual without a required license.
