Markerwaarddijk weight restrictions

Overview

Rijkswaterstaat announced that starting October 21, 2026, weight restrictions will be implemented on the Markerwaarddijk (N307) between Enkhuizen and Lelystad. The measure follows the discovery of cracks in the steel structures of movable bridges near the Houtribsluizen.

Heavy vehicles exceeding 15 tons or an axle load of 7.3 tons will be prohibited from using the route. Transport and Logistiek Nederland (TLN) warned that these restrictions could significantly impact transport companies in the northern Netherlands by increasing travel times, fuel costs, and mileage as drivers detour via the A6, A7, or the Afsluitdijk. Some experts suggest the restrictions may persist for years, potentially leading to increased costs for consumers.
