Marília Mendonça biographical projects on Prime Video

Overview

Prime Video is developing multiple projects regarding the life and legacy of the late Brazilian sertanejo singer Marília Mendonça.

A documentary series titled ‘Marília Mendonça: Sentimento Louco’, directed by Susanna Lira, is scheduled to premiere on October 16. The series will utilize personal archives and interviews to trace the singer’s journey from her origins in Goiás to her status as a national icon. This project marks the first major release under a licensing agreement between Amazon and the artist’s estate.

In addition to the documentary, filming has concluded for a biographical feature film titled ‘Marília’. Directed by Dainara Toffoli, the movie is slated for a 2027 release. The film will star Marina Versos as Mendonça and aims to explore her rise in a male-dominated industry and her impact on female audiences.
