Marvel and WEBTOON digital comics partnership

Overview

Marvel Comics and WEBTOON Entertainment announced a partnership to launch a new digital comics app, ‘Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON’, scheduled for release on November 16. The platform will host over 35,000 titles from Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century Studios, supporting both traditional page-based and vertical-scroll formats.

This transition involves the discontinuation of the Marvel Unlimited service, which is set to sunset on December 7, 2026. Existing Marvel Unlimited users can migrate their reading history and purchased titles to the new app, with active subscribers receiving prorated refunds for unused periods.

The new service will feature two subscription tiers: a Base tier for $9.99 per month and an Ultimate tier for $12.49 per month. At New York Comic Con, a beta version of the app was showcased, highlighting new digital content specifically designed for the WEBTOON format, including series featuring characters like the X-Men and Deadpool. The company also offered promotions for the Ultimate tier, such as limited-edition print ID cards for early subscribers.
