Mato Grosso Court of Justice leadership election

Overview

The Court of Justice of Mato Grosso (TJMT) has elected its new leadership for the 2027–2028 biennium. Judge José Luiz Leite Lindote was elected president, with Gilberto Giraldelli chosen as vice-president and Helena Maria Bezerra Ramos elected to lead the Corregedoria-Geral da Justiça.

The election for the presidency and vice-presidency followed a pre-established agreement among court members, with Lindote and Giraldelli running as sole candidates. The candidacy of Rui Ramos Ribeiro for Corregedoria-Geral was rejected due to legal impediments under the National Organic Law of the Magistracy.

Amid investigations into judicial irregularities in the region, Judge Maria Helena Gargaglione Póvoas defended the judiciary’s reputation, stating that “individual misconduct should not tarnish the entire institution” and emphasizing the need for increased dialogue with society.

In conjunction with the leadership changes, the Superior School of the Magistracy of Mato Grosso (Esmagis-MT) launched ‘Mentoria. Juris,’ a digital portal supported by artificial intelligence. The tool is designed to monitor and evaluate substitute judges during their probationary period by centralizing reports and sentencing analysis.
