Meat-related dining promotions in Japan
Overview
Various dining establishments and regional festivals in Japan held meat-related promotions during July and August 2026.
In late July, Steak no Asakuma launched a “Meat Day Customer Appreciation” event across numerous prefectures, offering 50% larger steak portions at unchanged prices. This was followed in early August by the Ugo-gyu festival in Akita, where local farmers and officials offered A5-rank beef products, including sirloin steaks and skewers.
In late August, Yakiniku no Watami announced a three-day sale from August 27 to August 29 to celebrate ‘Yakiniku Day’ (August 29). The promotion, available at 19 locations, includes a 29% discount on ‘Extra Thick Beef Tongue’ and Suntory draft beer for 29 yen with certain orders. Additionally, the chain scheduled a weekday lunch campaign from August 24 to August 28 featuring a 29% increase in meat portion size.
Other meat-centric promotions include a three-day ‘Meat Day’ campaign by Pizza Hut Japan from August 28 to August 30, offering discounted takeout and delivery prices on half-and-half meat pizzas. The Jingisukan specialty chain ‘Ram-chan’ will also offer a 45% volume increase on select lamb dishes from August 28 to 30. Katsudon Kihei in Ikebukuro is scheduled to hold a one-day discount on katsu bowls.
Regional food fairs include an Iwate Prefecture event from August 25 to September 7 featuring local cabbage and lettuce, and a Miyazaki Miyakonojo fair starting August 26 featuring minced meat and seasonal fruits.
