Authorities in Turkey have conducted separate investigations into medical professionals accused of soliciting illegal payments for services.

In Manisa, an orthopedic specialist, S. E., was arrested following allegations of extorting patients. Investigators found evidence of approximately 2.6 million TL in illicit bank transfers between August 2025 and April 2026. The specialist allegedly demanded payments ranging from 22,000 TL to 195,000 TL to perform surgeries covered by the Social Security Institution, reportedly threatening that patients who did not pay would instead be treated by assistant physicians.

In Nevşehir, an obstetrician identified as Y. S. was arrested alongside two others following a six-month surveillance operation. The investigation alleged that the doctor charged undocumented foreign women fees for medical examinations and services, including childbirth and genital aesthetic surgeries. The suspects included the doctor, an intermediary, and a patient who reportedly received paid aesthetic surgery.
