Medical malpractice lawsuits in Turkey

Legal actions have been initiated in Turkey following complications from aesthetic and corrective medical procedures.

In Elazığ, Aysun Alpsoy filed a lawsuit against a plastic surgeon after undergoing four unsuccessful corrective surgeries intended to repair a broken nose. Alpsoy alleges the procedures resulted in permanent disfigurement, including cartilage erosion, burns, and asymmetrical features.

In Antalya, Gonca Uzhan has filed a lawsuit for 5.064 million Turkish Liras against a doctor and clinic following chin liposuction and endolifting laser treatments performed in the Muratpaşa district. Uzhan reported that approximately two hours after the procedure, she experienced severe swelling, bruising, and bleeding in her neck, leading to breathing difficulties caused by a significant hematoma.

Because medical staff could not perform oral intubation due to pressure on her vocal cords, an emergency tracheostomy was required to secure her airway. Uzhan spent time in intensive care and has filed a criminal complaint against the physician, Dr. A. S. Her legal claims include seeking compensation for medical expenses, loss of earnings, and emotional distress, alongside allegations of nerve damage and hair loss.
