Commissioner Joan Calabuig stated the five-to-six-month interruption is required to implement the international gauge. To manage the closure, passenger services will be replaced by buses, while freight traffic will be diverted via Teruel and Zaragoza to Barcelona. Infrastructure improvements are currently underway in the Sagunt, Teruel, and Zaragoza areas to accommodate larger convoys during this transition.
