Organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch allege that the 2023 migration deal between the EU and Tunisia has fueled serious human rights violations and normalized violent interceptions by security forces. The International Organization for Migration notes that fewer arrivals do not equate to safer journeys, as traffickers continue to utilize dangerous routes.
