In Meghalaya, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has released the first installment of the Umbrella Post-Matric Scholarship for the 2025-26 academic year. The disbursement, totaling ₹93.698 crore, is intended to benefit 96,812 Scheduled Tribe (ST) students across the state.

The funding is composed of ₹84.55 crore from the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs and a ₹9.40 crore contribution from the Meghalaya government. Transfers are being conducted via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) method using the Single Nodal Agency (SNA) system, which allows the Reserve Bank of India to transfer funds directly to beneficiaries' accounts.
