Melfi, Italy job preservation agreements

In late July 2026, Italian authorities and manufacturers announced two separate agreements aimed at safeguarding employment in the Melfi automotive cluster. On 25 July, Stellantis and worker representatives extended a Solidarity Contract covering 4,409 employees at the company's Melfi plant, outlining a production roadmap for several models and emphasizing the need for continued governmental and regional support to keep the site competitive.

Two days later, on 27 July, the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy signed a re‑industrialisation pact to transfer the PMC Automotive and Brose facilities to C Costruzioni. The plan is designed to preserve all 150 jobs at those sites, with a schedule for plant hand‑over, restructuring, staff training and the launch of an electronic‑material recycling operation, overseen by a monitoring body that includes unions and the ministry. Together, the deals illustrate coordinated efforts to maintain the Melfi region’s automotive workforce amid technological change and rising competition.
