Melilla Fair 2026 preparations

Overview

Preparations for the 2026 Melilla Fair, scheduled from August 29 to September 6, are progressing through both logistical and security planning.

On the technical side, a massive decorative entrance gate is being prepared. The structure, inspired by the local modernism of Casa Tortosa, stands approximately 20 meters high and 34 meters wide, featuring roughly 200,000 LED points. While the main structure and exterior lighting for stalls are largely in place, work continues on interior lighting and the assembly of fairground attractions.

To ensure public safety during the festivities, the Government Delegation in Melilla has coordinated a major security operation. The plan involves the deployment of more than 1,150 personnel, including 430 National Police officers, 324 Civil Guard members, and 398 Local Police officers, to cover both the fairgrounds and the wider city.
