Menowin Fröhlich departure from Embassy of Music

Singer Menowin Fröhlich, winner of the talent show ‘Deutschland sucht den Superstar’ (DSDS) in May 2026, has ended his relationship with the record label Embassy of Music via a termination agreement.

Fröhlich cited a lack of professional management and the failure to implement his creative ideas, such as his own song compositions and outfit designs, as primary reasons for the split. He also noted that his winner’s single, ‘Mercy On Me’, failed to reach the German charts. Following the separation, Fröhlich plans to pursue a musical direction blending Schlager with gospel elements and will collaborate with the rapper Sido on an upcoming album.

Parallel to Fröhlich’s departure, former DSDS contestants have begun criticizing the production and jury head Dieter Bohlen ahead of the show’s 23rd season. Participants including Annemarie Eilfeld, Silvia Amaru, and Mark Medlock have voiced concerns regarding emotional damage, misrepresented relationships, and negative impacts on their public images. Annemarie Eilfeld warned young talents against participating, stating the experience was deeply taxing and left her ‘partially traumatized’. Silvia Amaru reported that the show’s portrayal of her character caused long-lasting damage to her public image, while Mark Medlock clarified that his relationship with Bohlen was strictly professional and driven by the business nature of the industry.
