Mercedes-Benz Türk operations and investment in Turkey

Overview

Mercedes-Benz Türk is evaluating the potential for electric truck production at its Aksaray facility, contingent upon market demand, charging infrastructure, and the total cost of ownership for fleet operators. CEO Heiko Selzam noted that the company’s Turkish operations serve as a strategic hub for manufacturing, R&D, and engineering, with total investments reaching approximately 4.5 billion Euros.

The Aksaray plant remains a central component of the Daimler Truck AG global network, producing roughly 70% of the brand’s trucks manufactured and exported. The facility has a production capacity of 100,000 trucks every four years and has produced over 415,000 units to date.

Further strengthening its technical role, the Aksaray R&D Center—the only center within Daimler Truck AG authorized to approve road tests—has managed long-distance testing for electric vehicles since 2023. The company continues to engage in strategic planning with dealers to address market dynamics and set objectives for the upcoming years.
