MEXC exit from Dutch cryptocurrency market

Overview

Cryptocurrency exchange MEXC is winding down its operations in the Netherlands following enforcement of the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations. The Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) had previously flagged the Seychelles-registered exchange for operating without proper authorization.

To facilitate the exit, MEXC has partnered with Bybit EU, a Vienna-based platform that secured MiCA authorization from Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA) in May 2025. MEXC has recommended that affected Dutch users migrate their assets to Bybit EU.

While initial reports suggested a full exit deadline of October 23, 2026, subsequent details clarify that users are encouraged to complete their transition by October 31, 2026, ahead of a final offboarding scheduled for November 16, 2026. Users must manually create and verify new accounts with Bybit EU, as assets and accounts will not be automatically migrated.
