Mexican drug and weapons enforcement operations

Overview

Mexican security forces have conducted multiple operations targeting drug trafficking and illegal weapons across several regions.

In Cancún, coordinated efforts involving the National Guard, Navy, and local police led to the arrest of three individuals. These operations, including one known as ‘Blindaje Cancún’, resulted in the seizure of marijuana, crystal meth, and a firearm.

Recent operations in Cancún have expanded these efforts. In Supermanzana 23, a man identified as Ariel “N” was detained by the Grupo Orión of the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana and the Secretaría de Marina; authorities seized 27 bags of a substance resembling marijuana, 13 bags of what appeared to be crystal meth, and a suspected counterfeit 500-peso note. In a separate ‘Blindaje Cancún’ operation in Supermanzana 531, Víctor Manuel “N” (29) and Ángel “N” (32) were apprehended by a coordinated force including the Cancún Police, Sedena, Semar, the National Guard, and the State Attorney General's Office. Officers recovered several bags of dried herb resembling marijuana and a short firearm.

In other parts of the country, federal authorities have also secured legal proceedings against suspects. In Cuernavaca, five men face charges for the possession of methamphetamine for commercial purposes following the seizure of approximately 4.57 kilograms of the substance. In Mexico City, an individual allegedly linked to the criminal organization La Unión Tepito was detained in the Doctores neighborhood after authorities seized methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, fentanyl tablets, and a firearm.
