Mexican initiatives for women's economic empowerment

Overview

Mexico is implementing various regional and national initiatives to enhance women's economic participation and autonomy. At the national level, the Secretariat of Economy is facilitating international market access for women-led micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) through the ‘Mujer Exporta MX’ program, which connects businesses in the agro-industry and manufacturing sectors with buyers in the United States, Canada, and Germany.

In specific states, support is being tailored to different professional and social needs. In Querétaro, efforts include recognizing high-level corporate executives through the ‘THE FIFTEEN Premio Mujer Líder Corporativa’ and providing equipment to productive projects in the Sierra Gorda region to foster self-employment. Meanwhile, in Aguascalientes, the state has reported a significant increase in beneficiaries of the ‘Tarjeta Rosa’ program, alongside providing a network of safety resources, childcare centers, scholarships, and free health services.
