Mexican law enforcement operations against organized crime

Overview

Mexican security forces have conducted several operations targeting organized crime groups across different regions. In Michoacán, the Secretariat of the Navy and other agencies dismantled the criminal structure of Los Pichilinguillos by arresting three brothers, Leobardo, Leopoldo, and Bernardo Pulido Lombera. The group is alleged to have controlled maritime routes for cocaine trafficking along the Pacific coast and is linked to kidnapping, homicide, and extortion. In Puebla, a joint operation involving the Secretariat of the Navy, the Secretariat of Public Security, and the State Attorney General's Office led to the arrest of three men suspected of being members of a Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) cell: Carlos N., Iván N. (alias “El Tartas”), and Francisco N. The detainees are alleged to have coordinated logistics for drug distribution and participated in violent acts. Authorities seized various narcotics, including over 280 wrappers of suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and marijuana, along with a firearm and a vehicle. Between October 14 and October 28, the Secretariat of the Navy reported further actions targeting CJNG structures and other networks in Jalisco, Colima, Sonora, Sinaloa, and Oaxaca. These operations resulted in the arrest of Iván Sánchez Santiago (alias “Comandante Cromo”) in Jalisco and Leopoldo David López Sánchez (alias “Cabo 20”) in Colima. In Sonora and Sinaloa, operations reportedly led to the deaths of individuals identified as leaders of the Los Salazar and Guasave cartels. Recent high-profile arrests include Samuel de la Cruz Anaya, alias “El Panda,” in Veracruz, who is a suspected regional leader for the CJNG linked to kidnapping, extortion, and fuel theft. In the State of Mexico, Lino Adame Soto, alias “El Patrón,” was arrested for his alleged leadership of the “Los Linos” group, which is accused of extortion, homicide, and cocaine trafficking.
