Mexican municipal women entrepreneurship programs

In July 2026, the municipal government of Chihuahua launched two education initiatives aimed at bolstering women‑focused enterprises. One program offered a Technical Specialization in Textile Creation, teaching crochet, knitting, lacework, colorimetry and modern textile technologies to support self‑employment for women. A second initiative introduced a Bachelor of Creative Design for Gastronomic Enterprises at the Institute of Architecture and Design, combining culinary arts, design thinking, business management and regional identity to prepare graduates for launching food‑service businesses.

A few days later, other Mexican towns expanded the focus on women‑centered entrepreneurship. In Guadalupe, municipal and state authorities began a self‑employment project that will provide 200 local women with cash grants of 150,000 pesos each, alongside assistance with sales, marketing, brand registration and administrative procedures. In the city of Centro, a free workshop under the Emprendedores+ segment trained more than 170 entrepreneurs—both men and women, including participants with disabilities—in basic product photography using smartphones, aiming to improve commercial presentation and sales skills.

Together, these initiatives illustrate a broader municipal effort across Mexico to provide targeted training, financial support and business development resources to women and other small‑business owners, seeking to reduce failure rates and foster inclusive economic growth.
